Gargoyles

Visceritika came about in the Dark Ages when Gargoyles were new. They had their own way of connecting with things to make them more reliable servants to their masters and mistresses. The Tremere believed that they had their own type of Thaumaturgy, which came to be known in Modern Nights as Visceritika.

((Note: Mind's Eye Theatre Laws of Elysium copyright 1998 pg.79 says and I quote "Kindred of the Gargoyle bloodline are the ONLY vampires who can possess this discipline." So unless you are one of them, DO NOT PUT IT ON YOUR SHEET!!!!!!))

1 • Soul of the Earth

The powder of an uncut piece of granite is mixed with the vitae of a gargoyle then sprinkled liberally on a normal animal. The process takes one and and prepares an animal to be Embraced by the Gargoyle the vitae belonged to.

System: Stamina of creature + Occult (difficulty 8). If a failure or a botch is the result, then the creature dies.

1 • Skin of the Chameleon

When Skin of the Chameleon is in effect, the Gargoyle's skin takes on the color and texture of the surrounding environment.

System: Creature spends 2 BP to enact.

2 • Scry the Hearthstone

The backbone of the Gargoyles' strength as guardians of havens and chantries, this power allows the user to maintain vigilance over part or all of an enclosed structure. The Gargoyle gains an innate sense of where all beings are located within the structure, even those hidden by Obsfucate or other supernatural concealment. Costs a Willpower point to activate and remains in effect as long as the Gargoyle is within or in contact with the target structure.

System: This may only be used by Gargoyles 11th generation or lower. Gargoyle diff of 6 on a Perception + Alertness roll. Intruder to keep hidden must make a Self-Control + Stealth roll with a difficulty of 6 as well. Higher percentage of successes wins the roll.

3 • Bond with the Mountain

This allows a Gargoyle to seek shelter within stone (or building materials that are stonelike, such as cement). A faint outline of the Gargoyle's shape can be seen by an sharp-eyed observer. Costs 2 blood points and the merge takes four turns to complete.

System: The gargoyle must be 10th generation or lower. This allows the gargoyle to earth meld like Protean. 2 bp expenditure + 1 hour of chanting.

4 • Armor of Terra

The Gargoyles' skin is toughened and she gains a higher pain threshold. She also acquires a limited amount of immunity to fire (though is no less terrified of it). This power is automatic and always in effect. Gives one extra soak for all aggravated and lethal attacks and two for all bashing. Reduces all wound penalties by one and halves the damage of any fire based source of injury.

System: Gargoyle must be 9th generation or lower. This will expend 5 BP.

5 • Sharing Fortitude

This allows the Gargoyle to share his own fortitude with a mortal or ghoul, or higher generation vampire or gargoyle.

System: The gargoyle must be 8th generation or lower. The gargoyle must spend 5 bp to enact, one of which must be used upon the forehead of the protected. After the statement of either, "I share my strength with you" or "My skin is now your skin", the protected has the same fortitude as the gargoyle whom is protecting them, until dawn. 5 bp expenditure + 1 Temporary WP

5 • Flow Within the Mountain

A Gargoyle is no longer confined to the location in which he Bonded with the Mountain. He may now travel through stone and concrete as if it where no thicker than a dense liquid. Once Bond with the Mountain has been used, the character spends two more blood points to active this power for the duration of the scene. This power can also be used to walk through a stone wall and emerge on the other side without first using Bond with the Mountain. In this case, the player spends one blood point. The Gargoyle may flow through a maximum thickness in feet equal to his successes. If the wall or barrier is thicker, the character is trapped within it until he is chiseled out or uses Flow Within the Mountain to escape.

System: This can be used by Gargoyles of 8th generation or lower. 6 • Heart of Stone

This protects the gargoyle from being impaled through the heart and sending them into torpor.

System: The Gargoyle must be 7th generation or lower. This gives the gargoyle a more rocklike appearance as well as a granite or marble like skin. For another to stake the gargoyle, they must have a Strength of 7 + a Potence of 7 to even roll, difficulty 8 if these conditions are met. To enact this, the Gargoyle must burn 10 BP.

6 • Gift of the Immobile Form

This allows the gargoyles to be used as building decorations during the day without damage.

System: The Gargoyle must be 7th generation or lower. By the spending of 10 bp and 1 temporary WP, the gargoyle may be a decoration in the sunlight for the entirety of a day.
